A photography collection of all the 13 Full Moons of 2023 (as originally posted on my instagram @moonwise8 on December 31st 2023)
This is the very first of my Full Moons Collections, a fine art photography project born in 2023. The birth of this art piece is very close to my hearth, and perfectly explains something words can never fully arrive to: what's behind my Moon-inspired journey. Something I get asked about all the time is when this inspiration started or how, and the truth is there's not a clear answer, there never was. It was a seamingless process that kept on growing and in the end made perfect sense, just like this composite photo. In fact It wasn’t planned simply because I couldn’t plan when the sky would have been clear. Each month I went towards full moon days without any expectations but a good determination of doing my best with any snippets of clear skies I could get.
At the end of the year I just thought It would have be fun to wrap 2023 with a collection of all the 13 full moons we had, since I’d been lucky enough to capture them one by one. And so I did. I created this image and only after finishing it, I noticed the red July Full Moon right in the center of it. It looked like there was a dictated color symmetry, but I wasn’t the artist behind that one aspect.

Sometimes I look at things and no matter how hard I try, I can’t come to a wordly conclusion on what I have in front of me. I can’t explain some visions before my eyes with words. This usually happens when I find myself in front of an “impossible" view, one I’m completely immersed in because of its deep capturing beauty. Then I instinctually try to understand how that level of beauty is possible, what’s behind it. I find myself in a situation of not knowing what it is but knowing what it feels. The moon is one of those visions I can’t explain. And I think it’s more than inspiration, it’s almost a feeling of a visceral connection that I believe it’s inherently alive in all of us. As creatures of the earth, we are, aware of it or not, in a constant magnetic communication with our satellite.
